Dear WG Members, The Registry Lite application is now available for download. This is an open-source general purpose registry that has been designed for easy implementation. Simply drop the application war file in your application server webapps directory and restart your application server. The registry should then be available at: http://<your-application-server>/dcregistrylt. This has been tested successfully with Redhat Linux servers and should work for other Linux / Unix operating systems as well. Windows servers may require a minor tweak in the way directories are accessed. I encourage anyone interested in registry software to try the application and provide feedback. Note that the registry fully supports vocabularies other than Dublin Core. The only restriction is that the vocabulary must be encoded in RDF.

The application war file and source code are available here: http://wip.dublincore.org/downloads/

There is still some work to be completed (docs, statitics, etc.) but all of the core functionality is finished. This application is one of the discussion items planned for the upcoming working group meeting at DC-2005 in Madrid.

Use the 'Administration' component to add and remove extensions (terms and their logical groupings. i.e., elements, element-refinements, etc.). By default, access to the administration component is restricted to authorized users. Authorization is provided by the Java Cryptography Extension (JCE). This requires administrators to create a new security key and encrypted password. Tools are provided with the application source code to accomplish this.

Please feel free to try the application. Feedback would be much appreciated. Please let me know if you have questions.
